Just because Fallout 4 is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland doesn’t mean your can’t be balling out on bottle caps from the get-go.
If you feel comfortable pocketing the entire Commonwealth’s economy then read on because there is an infinite caps glitch in Fallout 4 that will no doubt be patched out soon so get those caps while they are hot.
Fallout 4 players have discovered that selling and buying ammo in a very specific way lets you A) take all the caps from a vendor and B) continue selling phantom ammo to the vendor, thus allowing you to clean house at any shop. Here’s what you need to do.
STEP 1: Find a vendor who sells ammo. Any ammo will do.
STEP 2: Pick an ammo type.
STEP 3: Buy every single bullet of that ammo type.
STEP 4: Sell exactly one ammo of the stash you just back.
STEP 5: Sell another chunk of your ammo stash, but not all of it.
If you have followed these steps correctly, after those initial ammo swaps you should then be able to sell whatever you have left an infinite number of times without actually having the entirety of your supply drop. You should have one bullet of phantom ammo that you can sell back perpetually. You can continue you to sell phantom ammo and walk away with as many caps as you want. Voila. Infinite caps. Vendors in Fallout 4 are more like ATMs.
Fallout 4’s infinite caps glitch doesn’t work with every single vendor. If it doesn’t work with one vendor, try another. If it still doesn’t work, reread the steps we’ve outlined above again. It took me a few tries to nail it down but practice and perseverance has allowed me to become King of the Commonwealth (unofficially, it’s a title I have given myself because I’m so goddamn rich).
Bethesda will be quick to patch this exploit, so if you want to fast-track your Fallout 4 character to wealth and riches beyond their wildest dreams, get on it now!
