WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! Proceed only if you have snuck through Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain or if the game’s story has already been spoiled for you.
If you have beaten Metal Gear Solid 5, you know that’s it’s kind of a let down. Not only because the actual final boss was never completed (click here to see how the game was actually supposed to end), but because you also lose one of your most valuable sidekicks. The game ends with Quiet disappearing into the desert and as a result she can no longer be deployed as a buddy during missions. It’s a real (phantom) pain. Sorry.
But as of today, thanks to Metal Gear Solid 5’s latest patch, Quiet’s disappearance from Mother Base is no longer an issue.
With the new Metal Gear Solid 5 software update, players can now recover Quiet and fight alongside her once again. All you need to do is replay mission 11, “Cloaked in Silence,” seven times. The name of that mission will change to “[Reunion Cloaked in Silence,” and after completing it, Quiet will return to Mother Base with all her researched weapons and items intact.
People playing Metal Gear Solid 5 on PC already had the unofficial option to play as Quiet after she leaves the game thanks to a mod. But now players on consoles have that luxury too.
We don’t yet know if “[Reunion] Cloaked in Silence” will contain a special cutscene that tries to explain Quiet’s return to Mother Base or if Konami is hoping players will just be elated to continue ogling scantily-clad, virtual Stefanie Joosten, but having the badass sniper babe back on the roster is music to our ears.
Get psyched for Quiet’s return by re-watching her kick some serious ass.
