It’s arguably the most highly anticipated game of the year, and will be another entry in one of the most critically acclaimed series of all time, so it’s no surprise that fans of Red Dead have been scouring the internet and looking through magnifying glasses at its only trailer to find details. In typical Rockstar fashion, not too much information is around. There are some things we know however, and other things we can guess with near certainty, so here’s a run-down of everything we know so far about Red Dead Redemption 2.
1. It will release this year
Red Dead Redemption 2 has always been slated for a 2017 release, with retailers covering themselves with a 31st December date online; yet a few could have potentially let slip the actual release date. Earlier this year, UK’s Littlewoods showed the game to be out on 2nd October, and more recently Polish outfit MediaMarkt’s online store had 3rd October down.
Of course, both retailers have since changed the dates back to a December release, but it seems coincidental that they let slip dates just one day apart. Perhaps we could be seeing Red Dead Redemption 2 launch sooner than anticipated. We hope.
2. The map is huge
Red Dead Redemption was praised for its stunning open-world take on the Wild West, and left players in awe as they rode their stallion through the vast landscape. If the trailer is anything to go by, the scenery in Red Dead Redemption 2 will be every bit as beautiful, but a leaked image of the map shows the scope will be made even bigger.
The Great Plains looks to make a return from the original Redemption, but this time it pales in size compared to the rest of the map, which is filled with new locations, far-off mountainous regions, and even small islands – possibly hinting at more canoe travel. Tows and settlements look to be in abundance, and Redemption 2 could potentially be Rockstar’s biggest game yet.
