LOL Love Like Shock Cry WTF

A Spyro the Dragon Remaster Could Actually be Happening

Activision looking to cash in on the success of remasters.

Activision was surprised by the success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, giving nostalgic fans belief that more remasters may be on the way.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, developed by Vicarious Visions, takes players back to Crash’s three original PlayStation 1 adventures. It’s proved incredibly popular, topping the UK charts for four out of the last five weeks.

This has surprised even Eric Hirshberg, boss of Activision’s publishing, the company that now owns the rights to our favourite marsupial.

“We knew that there was a passionate audience out there for Crash. Full disclosure myself among them, but we had no idea – it’s hard to tell whether that’s a vocal minority or whether that’s a real mass audience until you put something out there,” he said in a recent conference call with investors.

“We think we have other great IP in our portfolio that we’re considering of course… I think you can be confident that there will be more activity like this in the future with more great IP.”

Another character Activision now owns the rights to is Spyro, the purple dragon that first stole peoples’ hearts during the PlayStation 1 era. Like Crash, Spyro’s first three adventures were chronicled on Sony’s first console, giving many fans belief that a remastering of those classic games could be on the cards.

There’s no doubt that a Spyro the Dragon remaster would be a success, especially when considering how well Crash’s trilogy has performed. What do we need to do to get it, though? “Just keep asking,” developer Vicarious Visions told IGN.

This could actually happen.
