As of this weekend, The Angry Birds Movie has grossed $229,453,309 globally, which means Hollywood has begun browsing the App Store for more popular mobile games to adapt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the next popular mobile game to hit the big screen will be a Fruit Ninja movie.
J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, who recently adapted How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack, have been hired to write the script for the Fruit Ninja movie. It is intended to be a live-action family comedy that centers on ninjas with an inexplicable vendetta against fruit. Although, for the sake of the movie’s watchability, we sure hope that the two writers figure out a reason for why the ninjas are so desperate to destroy all produce.
On paper, a live-action Fruit Ninja movie sounds like an impossible feat, but YouTuber ScottDW has proved with his short films that watching people slice fruit with katanas is actually quite watchable. Mind you, I don’t know that it could be sustained for over an hour.

Ok, so a Fruit Ninja movie could work provided it’s no longer than 3-minutes…
Good luck, Hollywood. You have your work cut out for you.
Which mobile game do you think will be next to get adapted for the big screen? Words with Friends? Temple Run? Doodle Jump? Share your pitches with us in the comments or on GameAddik’s Facebook page.
