It’s all we can really say about this phenomenal news. Action MMO Blade and Soul is massively popular in Asia and was confirmed for Western release over three years ago and it’s finally happening. On January 19th, 2016, us western MMO gamers will no longer be suckers as we will be able to play Blade and Soul.
Name reservation starts January 11th, 2016, which will include access to their nifty character creator for anyone who sprung for the Founder’s packs of this free-to-play MMO. Early access to the game itself begins January 15th.
In case you’re not yet familiar with Blade and Soul, watch the gameplay trailer below.
The reason we are so excited to play Blade and Soul is because of its reliance on timing and player input. Too many MMOs are all click click click. But because Blade and Soul’s focus is on martial arts and the mythology of various fighting styles, the MMO at least appears to be more inventive and engaging than other titles in the genre. However, we will only know for sure when it is released on January 19th, 2016. Until then, we choose to be charmed by this highly stylized MMO and just enjoy the fact that the wait is almost over, because the waiting was the hardest part.
The game went into beta last month and some beta weekends remain: November 24–30 (English), December 11–14 (English, French, German), December 18–21 (English, French, German).
