For all the veteran gamers that have been pining for a contemporary classic of the side-scrolling action adventure genre, we’ve got good news for you. The game you’ve been waiting for could be just around the corner in Hollow Knight.
Hollow Knight is a side-scrolling action adventure game currently under development by Team Cherry, an independent games teams comprised of only 3 people based in South Australia, and it absolutely needs to be on your watch-list.
Set in the vast, inter-connected underground kingdom of Hallownest, Hollow Knight (you the player) must face a host of deadly insect-inspired creatures, avoid intricate traps and solve ancient mysteries as you make your own way through fungal wastes, forests of bone and underground cities. The game blends eerie, unnerving atmospheres with a humorous core, especially with all the weird NPCs you’ll find along the way.
But don’t just take our word for it, watch the Hollow Knight trailer below to see for yourself.
Kudos to Team Cherry! They are eating, sleeping, breathing, living proof that small dev teams can do spectacular things. At least, we’re hoping they can. The game is still currently in development for Windows, Mac, Linux and Wii U. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this can live up to expectations because we are dying to play it.
