Activision has released the first trailer for Call of Duty: WW2 Zombies, and it looks set to be one of the best in years.
Zombies has been a mainstay of the series ever since the last instalment set in World War 2 nine years ago, World at War – aside from Modern Warfare 2 and 3. Ever since World at War and the Black Ops trilogy, though, the side-mode has taken on a more light-hearted approach: Infinite Warfare’s Zombies a far cry from the original Nacht Der Untoten.
This time around Sledgehammer Games seems to be continuing the trend it’s set for Call of Duty: WW2 as a whole, as Zombies looks to be going back to its roots. You can watch the trailer below.
There’s no denying that the original Zombies maps used to be scary, and WW2 looks to be picking that horror element up again. “I have seen the vision of our Fuhrer’s future,” the narrator explains. This confirms the story is based on around Hitler developing an army of zombies in one last push to win the war.
Some big actors are involved in the story as well, including David Tenant, Ving Rhames, Katheryn Winnick, and Udo Kier.
Of the Zombie mode, Activision said: “Players will embark on a chilling and mysterious journey through a snowy Bavarian village in Mittelburg, Germany, as they attempt to recover priceless works of art stolen by the Axis powers in World War II. This village holds a shadowy secret key to an unimaginable and monstrous power.”
Call of Duty: WW2 releases on 3rd November of this year.
