EA’s Skate franchise had its ups and downs over the course of its three instalments. Regardless of the cartoonish physics and the glitchy gameplay of the last Skate game (Skate 3) released almost six years ago, it appears EA’s Instagram followers are committed to spamming every single one of their posts demanding a Skate 4.
Take a look at the lobbying for Skate 4 below.
EA announced today they’d be giving up on E3 in favour of their own conference/trade show called EA Play. But the news didn’t register with EA’s Instagram followers. All they want is Skate 4.
Hyping up the Super Bowl didn’t have much of an effect as their followers were too focused on getting their Skate 4 cries heard.
EA fans might actually really love Unravel, but Skate 4 takes priority.
And it’s been going on for a while…
The question now is, are these people for real or are they trolling?
The Skate franchise has been defunct for years. There was a slight resurgence in 2014 when Skate 3 became a Let’s Play staple, however, it only became a staple because of its dubious physics and glitches. This lends credence to the theory that these people calling for Skate 4 are just trolling. Having exhausted the bad physics and glitches of Skate 3, they may just be luring EA into a trap.
Then again, this could just be a genuinely passionate fanbase that is in desperate need of a new instalment. I would like to warn them that a Skate 4 could be an even bigger disappointment than Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 –which turned out to be the definition of a train wreck when it was released last September.
What do you think of the spamming? Is it genuine or is it trolling? Would you want to play a new Skate game? Let us know what you think in the comments.
