Nexon and Bluehole have agreed to create a new version of the free-to-play fantasy MMORPG Tera for iOS and Android mobile devices. It is slated for release sometime next year.
According to 2P, the mobile version of Tera will be called T2. The new mobile version of the MMORPG will be created using the Unreal Engine 4. It will also be overseen by several of Tera’s original developers and it is not to be confused with the second instalment of the Terminator film franchise of the same name. Hopefully the name for Tera’s mobile version doesn’t run into any trouble from TriStar Pictures.
No specific release dates have been revealed, and it remains unclear whether or not T2 will utilize the same free-to-play economy as its PC predecessor. We will know more as we draw closer to the release.
While we wait for more Tera on mobile details to be released, our fingers are crossed that the development team figures out a way to bring our current Tera characters onto the mobile version. But if not, it is still exciting to know that we will soon be able to explore the world of Arborea from our mobile devices.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Tera, it is an MMORPG with real-time action combat. With a combat system that relies more on a player’s skill than strength and beautiful world design, Tera has been one of our favourite MMORPGs since its release in 2012. If you have not yet experienced the maddening fun of Tera’s skill-based combat system that more MMORPG games should emulate, play it for free now.
