Final Fantasy VI may be coming soon to PC after a new rating has appeared on the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) page.
The listing shows the game is suitable for ages 12 and up and currently shows November 26th, 2015 as a release date. Now, that could simply be the date the game was rated by PEGI. But why rate it now? If there’s no Final Fantasy VI re-release on the horizon, why is PEGI rating games from 1994?
Square Enix has stated its desire to continue remaking its existing IPs. Earlier this year, Square Enix announced plans to remake Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation 4 and series director Tetsuya Normura also expressed an interest in remaking Final Fantasy V and VI.
The PEGI rating for Final Fantasy VI on PC released today does not make clear if it is a re-release or a remake of Final Fantasy VI. We’ll be fine with either because Final Fantasy VI is hands down one of the best RPGs ever.
Better known as Final Fantasy III in North America because of weird early 90’s sequels only released in japan, Final Fantasy VI is all about powerful, magical creatures called Espers returning to the world after being frozen for centuries, returning the world to danger. Who or what is behind the rediscovery and redeployment of magic-powered weapons and Espers? What chaotic plans will wreak havoc on the world’s order? We’d love to tell you but since there’s a chance we’ll be playing Final Fantasy VI again soon, our lips are sealed.
While we wait for news about Final Fantasy VI coming to PC to emerge, let the Final Fantasy VI soundtrack take you on a nostalgia trip below.
