The Game Awards 2015 happened last night. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won Game of the Year, CD Projekt Red won Developer of the Year, Rochet League won Best Independent Game, No Man’s Sky won Most Anticipated Game (which really should not be a category for an award when you think about it) and a bunch of other people got awards for their hard work and contributions to the video game medium.
But let’s be honest, the don’t watch the Game Awards for the awards. We watch the Game Awards for all the sick game trailers that get premiered at the Game Awards. And last night delivered the game trailer goods in a big way. In case you missed all the game trailers that premiered at the Game Awards 2015, watch them below now.
Included were Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn, a Telltale Games Batman title, Far Cry Primal, Psychonauts 2, Quantum Break, Rock Band VR, Shadow Complex Remastered, Rocket League‘s Xbox One release, Star Citizen, and The Walking Dead: Michonne.
1. Where Water Tastes Like Wine
“Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is a bleak American folk tale about traveling, sharing stories, and surviving manifest destiny.” is how the game is described on its official site. So it’s like a historical accurate survival game about making it through the dust bowl? Sounds fun.
2. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
If you didn’t want to do that, you should have given her that crucifix, Nathan.
3. Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn
I don’t know if you recall 1994 but it was the year Shaquille O’Neal licensed his image to Delphine Software International so that they could make a travesty of a brawler, Shaq Fu. Since 1994, Shaq Fu has cracked many a “Top 10 Worst Games of All Time” lists because it is garbage. You know a game is bad when its only redeeming quality is: it features Shaq doing kung-fu moves. Yet that didn’t stop people from crowdfunding the sequel on IndieGogo. As long as Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn isn’t as dismal as its predecessor, it’ll be in good shape.
4. A Batman Telltale Game
This is more of a teaser than a trailer. But still, how could a Batman Telltale Game not be a good thing? What they’ve done with Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, Minecraft and many more is enough to proof to reassure us that an interactive story game starring the Dark Knight is in good hands.
5. Far Cry Primal
Far Cry Primal does look pretty dang cool. However, I’m worried that this trailer is going to make whoever owns the Beastmaster IP want to get litigious.
6. Psychonauts 2
A sequel to Psychonauts? Dreams really do come true. However, there is a catch. Psychonauts 2 will only be realized if it’s crowdfunded. It’s currently featured on Fig, a special site designed by the heads of several indie development studios that allow backers to actually make an investment in projects, rather than simply make a donation. It should be better than an IndieGogo or Kickstarter based on that description. But what the hell do we know? Maybe Psychonauts 2 isn’t meant to be a video game nostalgists-scam. I’ll invest. Reluctantly. But I’ll invest.
7. Quantum Break
Prediction: Quantum Break will contain a number of plot holes and rules of time bending will be under-defined. Thus, the game will be unsatisfactory with a confounding climax that undoes everything we’ve worked for to accommodate a contrived twist. How do I know this? BECAUSE I CONTROL TIME. JK. I’ve just seen enough game trailers to know what up.
8. Rock Band VR
They still make these games!
9. Shadow Complex Remastered
All you need to know about this game: you can get it for FREE on PC for a limited time via Epic Games.
10. Rocket League for Xbox One
Cool…expect…the gaming generation prefers PS4. So…
11. Star Citizen 2.0 gameplay trailer
New first-person view enables gamers to experience severe motion sickness at brand new ends of the universe. DOPE.
12. The Walking Dead: Michonne
This three episode, stand alone series from Telltale Game is set to further bridge together the Telltale game series with the canon of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics through one of its most complex characters, Michonne. Voiced by the amazing Samira Wiley whom you know from Orange is the New Black, this game is going to be a must for anyone who loves zombie apocalypses. And out of all the game trailers that premiered last night, this one made my spine shiver the most. Well done.
13. Rise of Tomb Raider: Baba Yaga DLC
14. Halo 5 Guardians multiplayer expansion
15. Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack 2
OH SICK. The new guest characters in Mortal Kombat X are Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, a Xenomorph from the Alien franchise and a couple of obscure/classic Mortal Kombat characters! Very cool.
So that’s it for the game trailers that premiered at the Game Awards 2015. Which one of the 15 game trailers got you the most excited. Please discuss in the comments below.
