Horizon: Zero Dawn’s first expansion, The Frozen Wilds, is set to release later this year.
As the title suggests, the DLC will be much frostier than the standalone game, but features stunning landscapes and giant robot beasts in keeping with the original. Aloy returns – we wouldn’t have thought otherwise – and with her Shield Wielder Armor. You can watch the trailer below.
Nothing is known about the story as of yet, but the final shot is of an exploding, thunderous volcano, so it looks likely that whatever the issue is, it has something to do with that.
This wasn’t the biggest surprise at E3: Guerrilla had previously put a job advert out for level designers, and Horizon: Zero Dawn was such a success that they were never going to not give us an expansion.
No dates have been mentioned apart from later this year, but Sony and Guerrilla Games will probably throw some more trailers and information out soon.
