Eagle-eyed fans of The Last of Us 2 think they’ve worked out where the game is set – in Seattle, Washington.
Since a teaser trailer was released late last year, Naughty Dog has kept secretive over the much-anticipated sequel. Using only the game’s concept art, some fans think they’ve managed to work out at least one feature – the game’s location.
It all began with a parking sign. Reddit user Voldsby first noticed that the parking signs looked familiar to those found in Seattle, Washington. It’s not all that convincing, except in another piece of concept art they spotted the word “Driftwood” painted on a distant building, much like a building in the same city.
RoganJosho, the second sleuth in the detective story, then recognised an underground car park in another shot of the game, backed up with an actual photo of the real car park itself – in Seattle.
To put the nail in the coffin, Falconbox, the third detective, mapped both locations out, and noticed that they’re within a few blocks of each other.
That The Last of Us 2 could be set in Seattle may not seem overly important, but locations played a major part in setting the tone of the original game. The Last of Us took players on a journey through Austin, Boston, Wyoming, Jackson, and Salt Lake City, each one creating a unique mood.
The Last of Us 2 isn’t due to release until 2018, and at the moment developer Naughty Dog is concentrating on finishing Uncharted: Lost Legacy, so any news is good news.
