PS4 Beats Nintendo Switch to U.S Top Spot

For the first time in 2 months.

The PlayStation 4 is back to being the best-selling console in the U.S, after Nintendo’s Switch topped the charts throughout its first two months.

One reason for the change is thought to be a drought in Switch stock, though Sony’s system recently reaching 60 million units sold suggests that it’s still heavily attracting consumers.

The hardware market is up seven percent, the same figure as the year before. However, the market as a whole is down 18 percent, mainly down to a reduction in software sales. During the same period last year, games such as Overwatch and Uncharted 4 were commercially successful, whereas no current games have had the same effect.

Injustice 2 tops the software sales chart, toppling Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch. The complete list is as follows:

1. Injustice 2
2. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Grand Theft Auto V
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5. Prey
6. Ghost Recon: Wildlands
7. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia
8. NBA 2K17
9. MLB 17: The Show
10. Overwatch
