Earlier this week, one Pokemon Go player went online to boast that the game’s developer Niantic had gifted her the legendary Pokemon Articuno.
Naturally, this caused an uproar in the community, as fans around the world insisted that the woman was lying…because why would Niantic just give someone a legendary Pokemon? Because they asked politely? Doesn’t seem right.
Still, Kait Covey stood strong that her story and her Pokemon were legit and even posted a video with her friend to show the legendary Pokemon off.
Unfortunately for Ms Covey, whether or not her claim is true is a moot point now. Niantic has confirmed that some legendary Pokemon did accidentally find their way into the game and that they will be taking them away from their owners.
We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokemon got into a few accounts when they shouldn’t have.
To preserve the game’s integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers’ accounts.
We totally understand Niantic’s desire to keep the game balanced, but should the Trainers who benefited from the blunder be penalized?
