Facebook support on Playstation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV is coming to an end.
The Facebook app was removed from the PlayStation Store on September 15th, while support for all Facebook features on the devices listed above will be terminated in January 2016. Don’t panic! The PlayStation 4 is in no way affected by the service shutdown.
In the announcement, Sony made no mention of why it’s taking this action. It’s not the first time the company has ended support for some of its features. Earlier this year, the PS Vita lost its YouTube and Maps functionality.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding,” Sony said.
By slowly dismantling the availability of the most popular apps, are we to surmise that Sony is putting the squeeze on users that haven’t yet made the next-gen jump? Let us know what you think about PS3, PS Vita and PS TV losing Facebook support in the comments below.
