The only thing Red Dead Redemption fans want more than a PC version of the game is a sequel. And since Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick called Red Dead a “permanent franchise” at a conference, it’s been more or less confirmed that a Red Dead Redemption 2 would be in the works. The only question is…when?
A recent comment by Danny Ross, an ex-Rockstar employee, during an Ask Me Anything on Reddit further flamed the rumor fires. When asked what Rockstar is up to, Ross replied ‘Really? Dumbass. Really? Two.’
Did Danny Ross drop an acrostic hint? The comment have since been deleted, further lending to the impression of it being genuine.
Now, FragHero is reporting that a source has informed them that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be announced at the upcoming E3 conference in July. Their anonymous tipster also had these details to share.
- The game is to be called Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West.
- It has been in development for four years and is due out fall 2017.
- The game contains multiple playable characters and a much bigger world than its predecessor.
- A HD remake of the original Red Dead Redemption is to be released on the latest generation of consoles before the end of the year.
Now, FragHero urges its readers to take this rumour with a grain of salt as it can’t be verified.
Regardless of the validity of this source, it’s probably a good bet to assume we will hear more about the new Red Dead game that is undoubtably in the works at this coming E3. If not, we are truly sorry to get your hopes up. We’ll find out in July…
