Rockstar has delayed Red Dead Redemption 2 until Spring 2018, citing the game being its first designed or this generation as the reason.
The game, originally slated for an October 2017 release, is the sequel to one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed games of all time. No doubt the news will be met with discontent from fans all across the world.
In the statement, Rockstar said: ‘This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans’
The company’s recent games, like Grand Theft Auto V, released on last-gen systems. Its most commercially successful game to date, GTA V also saw many delays, eventually taking four years to complete.
The news comes just weeks after actor Matt Bradford listed that he was to play the part of Dutch, a character from Red Dead Redemption. If true, this would confirm that Red Dead Redemption 2 is in fact a prequel to the original.
As an apology, Rockstar released a series of screenshots from the delayed game, all of which you can view below.
