Someone Built a Working Version of Pokemon Red in Minecraft

Just when we thought a working smartphone was the most impressive Minecraft construction we’d ever see, Redditor MrSquishyYT (formerly Magbi1) proudly revealed that he’s managed to build a working version of Pokemon Red in Minecraft! Complete with attacks, battle animations and even a working Pokedex!

How can such a thing be possible? Well, first of all, we need to stress that this guy is a genius.

In short, he’s using command blocks in Minecraft to rebuild Pokemon Red in its entirety. He basically put together a working Game Boy from scratch, which is amazing.

As you might have guessed, the process of building a working Game Boy that plays Pokemon Red in Minecraft is pretty complex. If you dare try to comprehend this madness, here’s how the great creator explained his process:

“There’s a physical representation of the map…in spawn chunks in which each block corresponds with a texture. When the player clicks, a reader armor stand moves and clones the row of new textures behind the display. Display armor stands then detect the block type and stick the corresponding texture on their head before moving. The player model is just swapping between a static walking and standing texture.”

This is genuinely one of the most impressive things I have ever seen and real testament to what is possible in Minecraft if you have the know-how.

Feast your eyes on the clip below and be amazed by this working version of Pokemon Red in Minecraft.

Meanwhile, I’m still figuring out how to use the pickaxe!!!!!
