Is Spider-Man Swinging to PS4 in 2017?

Or is it a web of lies?

PlayStation 4 exclusive Spiderman will be releasing this year, according to Vice President and Executive Editor of Marvel Digital Media Ryan Penagos.

During a livestream, Penagos said: “ there’s even more on the horizon for 2017 like Spider-Man coming to PlayStation 4 and Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.” The clip was recorded by Reddit user GamingSince95.

First Spiderman Gameplay preview from E3

The first clip of Spider-Man on PS4 was shown at E3 2017, but both developer Insomniac and publisher Sony have been quiet ever since. It seems like we’ll be seeing out favourite web-slinger sooner than we initially thought. This would make sense from a marketing point of view, with the new movie Spider-Man: Homecoming expected to be a huge box office success this year.

The PS4 reboot of Spider-Man will be an open-world action adventure game, covering the separate lives of the normal Peter Parker and his super-hero self. It won’t be based on any previously published material, so will be a unique story to the franchise, but will begin with the protagonist as an experienced crime fighter. It promises to be unlike any other game in the franchise’s long history.
