Watch This Real Life Mario Kart Race Through a Mall

Ever since Mario Kart 64 was released on December 14th, 1996, it has been my dream to some day race go-karts with all my friends while throwing banana peels, shells and whatever else the item box is generous to gift to me in real life. But that’s just a pipe dream, right? There is no way a real life Mario Kart race could ever occur…right? Well, apparently not.

A group of Mario Kart enthusiasts from the United Kingdom came together to create a real life Mario Kart race through a British shopping mall with the help of GoPro. Members from the Facebook group Base37 dressed up as their favourite characters–which included Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Wario, Yoshi and a monkey that I guess is supposed to be Donkey Kong–and raced through the Westfield Shopping Mall on Razor Crazy Carts. Not only did they race in costume, but they managed to recreate the classic spin out of control when making contact with a banana. The group only had one rule: don’t get caught.

Watch this real life Mario Kart race through a mall below and remember that dreams really do come true.

If you were participating in a real life Mario Kart race, which character would you want to race as? Let us know how you would race if you had this same opportunity in the comments.
