It’s important to note that this is just a specs reveal, meaning it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing the console itself, price, and release date. With E3 looming in June, it seems as if Microsoft will be using this reveal more as a marketing ploy more than anything else, in an attempt to win back more of the market off of Sony.
There are, however, some specs that we already know. Microsoft are calling Scorpio the most powerful console ever made, which isn’t difficult to believe. It revealed that the console will run at six teraflops, compared to the PS4 Pro’s 4.2, and plans to give it 12GB of GDDR5 memory, a huge improvement on its standard Xbox One console. There have also been rumours that the console will sport a compact design, the opposite direction to which Sony went with the Pro.
With huge titles in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: WW2 releasing later this year, it’s likely that Microsoft will be looking to release the console some time before the holiday period.
