The standalone Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is now available on Xbox One.
The game was initially packaged in with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, with the first standalone edition releasing on the PlayStation 4 last month. Sony has a priority agreement in place with Activision, meaning its consoles receive Call of Duty content a month earlier than Microsoft’s.
It launches in time for the double XP Beachbomber Prop Hunt event, which sees players hiding as props throughout the maps in a bid to fool opposing players.
Yet, unless Xbox One players desperately want a physical copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, there is a cheaper way for them to have the game. The Infinite Warfare Xbox One disc has Modern Warfare Remastered on it, whereas the PlayStation 4 edition came with a download code. This means that Xbox One owners can purchase preowned copies of the latest instalment in the franchise and still be able to play the remastered version of one of the greatest games of all time. Owners of Sony’s console don’t have the same luxury.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for $39.99 (£34.99).
