World of Tanks is going 4K.
With the Xbox One X hitting shelves this November, developers and publishers are showing their support with 4K versions of their games. Online gaming giant Wargaming is the latest to jump on the bandwagon, bringing a 4K version of World of Tanks to the console.
Wargaming’s Confirms 4K
TJ Wagner, Wargaming’s executive producer, confirmed in a Q&A earlier this year that the game will fully support Xbox One X (known as “Project Scorpio” at the time of the Q&A).
“We plan on fully supporting Scorpio and are already running tests at full 4K resolution,” he said. “It looks fantastic. We’re still determining other extra bells and whistles for Scorpio.”
While we’re still not sure what those extra bells and whistles will be, it’s hard to argue that the game looks fantastic.
From Free MMO to 4K
For any of those unfamiliar with free online MMOs, World of Tanks started out as a massively popularly PC game with over 150 million players worldwide. Since then, it has expanded out to consoles and is currently available on the PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
A release date for the 4K version of the game is yet to be confirmed. More details are expected to be revealed at Gamescom 2017 this August.
Gamescom runs from Tuesday, August 22 to Saturday, August 26, 2017. It will be hosted in Cologne, Germany.
