Xbox Exec Addresses Claims That Xbox Doesn’t Have Enough Exclusives This Year

Executive claims Xbox has “a really good lineup this holiday.”

If you think Xbox is lacking in exclusive games this year, you’re not alone in feeling this way. Apparently, this sentiment is felt among most gamers, and a top Xbox executive has responded to this issue.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Xbox General Manager Shannon Loftis believes that 2017 has seen many Xbox exclusives and many more are on their way very soon. When asked about her take on this issue, Loftis stated: “In terms of exclusives, I’ve heard that rumor and I’m a little bit confused because we have a really good lineup this holiday.”

Elaborating on her statement, Loftis claimed: “We’ve got the most popular game on the planet in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds–the Xbox console is going to be the only place where you can play that. We also have Forza Motorsport 7, which every single year reinvents the racing genre and basically owns racing in the video games industry.”

Loftis was correct in acknowledging PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, available on PC, being the most popular game this year, which has over 2 million concurrent players. Xbox wants to capitalize on the game’s success by bringing the title to the Xbox One way ahead of the PS4. PUBG is expected to be released for the Xbox One by the end of this year.

Touching upon other games exclusive to the Xbox One, Loftis states: “Plus all of our previous exclusives are getting Xbox One X enhancements as well. And then into 2018 we’ve got Sea of Thieves, we have Crackdown 3, and State of Decay 2. I think it’s pretty good – there’s a huge amount of experiences for people to have.” The most notable games getting an update for the Xbox One X belong to the Halo series, with the Halo: Master Chief Collection, Halo 5, and Halo Wars 2 getting improvements for the next-gen console.
