8. Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game
The last real Call of Cthulhu game that we got was Dark Corners of the Earth, which was a truly amazing game and definitely worth revisiting. This is especially true now that a new Cthulhu game is on the horizon, sub-titled simply as “The Official Video Game”. Despite being originally slated for a 2017 release, the game has been pushed back to 2018, with no specific date yet. However, based on the trailer, this is one to be excited about!
In true Call of Cthulhu style, the game features seemingly deranged cultists, an environment designed to strike fear in anyone who sees it, and mind-bending events that will play with your perception of reality.
This PS4 horror game is set to truly test your psyche, as it will play with your mind and get inside your head like few other games can. If ever there was a game to define Psychological Horror, this may very well be the one.
7. Days Gone
Despite being billed as an “open world action-adventure game”, Days Gone definitely fits in the horror genre! Did you know that the original Resident Evil games are also referenced as “action-adventure” by many people? Anyway, Days Gone is set well after the initial apocalypse caused by the appearance of zombies. Humanity is rebuilding, but that doesn’t mean that everyone gets to sit around and drink orange juice!
Fighting between groups of humans is common, but so is the ever constant thread of the flesh-eaters. They are fast, and whilst they may not be smart, they seem to travel in herds. There’s just something about hundreds of ravenous zombies barrelling down upon you that is inherently terrifying.
Days Gone is a PlayStation 4 exclusive horror game that will have you gripping the controller so tightly that it might as well just become part of your hands!
